What is Fudge Made Of?

Fudge is a classic sweet made by carefully heating sugar and dairy together, then beating the mixture as it cools. This creates the smooth, creamy texture people love. While the base recipe is simple, different flavours are created by adding chocolate, nuts, fruit, or biscuits.

Base Ingredients

  • Sugar – the main structure and sweetness
  • Dairy – butter, milk or cream powder for creaminess
  • Glucose/corn syrup – keeps the fudge soft and prevents crystallisation
  • Emulsifiers/preservatives – tiny amounts such as soy lecithin or potassium sorbate in some flavours
